e quarto.

Confermando a se stesso che è uno
dei contendenti al titolo nazionale inglese, James Dabill inizia
il suo bottino con un solido secondo posto dopo essere stato
seriamente vicino alla vittoria. Solamente tre penalità di
differenza distaccavano Dabill dal vincitore della giornata nel
Sud Wales Jarvis.
Il buon campione Jarvis ammetteva a
fine gara che il ragazzo chiamato James aveva spinto molto per
la vittoria tutto il giorno e che era riuscito a tenere la
pressione sino all'ultima zone guadagnando la vittoria. Il
finale era duro per Dabill il quale non poteva concedersi sbagli
anzi attaccare.
Dopo esser passato con uno splendido
0 alla zona più difficile, James purtroppo incappava nella
massima penalità nella no stop successiva dove oltrepassava il
tempo limite in zona di 2 secondi. Sicuramente con tanto amaro
in bocca per un 5 accumolatosi solo per 2 secondi di eccesso,
Dabill era comunque consapevole che era stato molto vicino alla
vittoria e questo ne doveva rendere conto.
"Il secondo posto è un buon archivio
come inizio stagione, ma sicuramente avrei preferito vincere. Mi
sento di aver guidato abbastanza bene tutto il giorno e mi sono
divertito nella battaglia con Jarvis. Era sottopressione
nell'ultima zona, però mi sento di averla dominata bene
purtroppo solo per il tempo ho preso il fatidico 5."
Aver piovuto il Venerdì e il Sabato
hanno fatto sì che cambiassero un po' le zone. In ogni modo alla
partenza della competizione non pioveva, ma quando i piloti
erano più o meno a metà percorso ha iniziato a piovere. Ciò a
messo pure in crisi il tempo limite di gara.
Dopo aver guidato la sua Tuning Beta
Rev 3 ufficiale adesso Dabill guarda avanti al viaggio verso la
Spagna dove con la sua moto lo vedrà iniziare la stagione
Mondiale e Europea.
"Questo risultato mi ha dato una
giusta carica per la prossima settimana. Saranno due giorni
molto importanti poichè cercherò di attaccare immediatamente con
un buon inizio di Campionato Europeo e Mondiale. Mi sento sia
mentalmente che psicologicamente forte, e se riuscirò a giudare
come oggi sono sicuro di fare subito un boom importante."
L'altro alfiere del Team Micheal
Brown conduce una gara abbstanza regolare e conclude alle spalle
di Colley. Un podio sfiorato per lui che però sicuramente sarà
un inizio importante per poi arrivare al Mondiale Junior con una
buona confidenza psicologica.

Confirming himself as a real contender for the 2006 British
trials championship, James Dabill opened his campaign with a
solid second place after having come within touching distance of
taking the win. Just three marks separated Dabill from eventual
winner Jarvis at the first round of the series held in South
Wales earlier today.
Reigning domestic champion Jarvis praised James in his post
event speech, saying that the teenager “had pushed him hard all
day, and had kept up the pressure right to the last section.”
The trial served up a dramatic conclusion, with Dabill knowing
that he had to complete the final hazard for one mark or less to
snatch the victory.
However whilst James remained feet up in the most difficult
section on the course, he was awarded a five after the observer
judged him to have exceeded the time limit by just two seconds.
Whilst obviously disappointed at having been defeated by such a
narrow margin, Dabill was equally delighted at having come so
close to tasting the winners’ champagne.
“Second place is a great achievement, but obviously I would have
preferred to have won. I feel I have ridden pretty well all day
and really enjoyed the battle I was having with Graham. I
thought I might have felt under pressure in the last section,
but I managed to keep it together, it was just a shame that I
ran out of time.”
Heavy rain during Friday and Saturday meant that many of the
sections had to be altered just prior to the trial. The
competition day started dry, but with the riders only half way
round their first lap the heavens opened once again. It was only
during the final tour of the twelve hazards that the rain
subsided when there was little of the five and half hour overall
time limit to run.
Riding the ‘detuned’ version of his factory Beta Rev 3 to suit
the slippery terrain today, Dabill is now looking forward to
travelling to Spain where he will campaign his full spec machine
at the first round of the European and World championship next
weekend.
“This result has really put me in a confident mood ready for
next weekend. It is going to be an important couple of days, as
I will be looking to make a good start in both the Euro and
World series. I feel mentally and physically strong, and if I
ride like I have today, then I will have a real chance of
kicking off with a bang.”
